Strong focus on ESG
Through its ESG policy, Agder OPS Vegselskap has a strong focus on implementing ESG measures. ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance. In Norwegian, this can be translated as Environmental, Social and Business Ethics. From 2021, we will map our environmental footprint by delivering climate accounts. We measure direct and indirect emissions. Our goal is to reduce or eliminate the production of polluting emissions to the environment. Together with our skilled contractors who operate and maintain the E18 highway between Grimstad and Kristiansand, we have this year replaced all conventional road light fixtures with LED light fixtures. This measure alone results in an annual reduction of over 100 million tons of CO2.
By optimizing vegetation cutting over several years, we now have a rich wildflower community along the E18 between Grimstad and Kristiansand. The goal has always been to create the opportunity for the wildflowers to seed themselves so that we get an even greater diversity of wildflowers along the E18 between Grimstad and Kristiansand. In collaboration with local beekeepers, we currently have over 100 beehives placed at intersections along the E18. The bees pollinate the wildflowers in addition to producing honey. Some of the summer and heather honey from this year's harvest has been sent to our owner BBGI in Luxembourg. BBGI donates this honey they receive from E18 to food stations, schools, the needy etc.
